How to build a valuable connection
Actions to take and to avoid

Have you ever wanted to network with someone but you aren’t sure how to approach them? Let’s break it down.
How To Build A Connection
If you’re interested in speaking to someone, start off on the right foot.
Here’s what to do:
Ask how they are.
Give a short introduction of yourself and what you do in 1-2 sentences.
Mention how you'd love to connect and have a chat.
Conclude by letting them know you look forward to hearing from them.
Here's an example you can use:
“Hey [Name],
I hope you’re well.
I’m a [creator] and I’ve been [creating content] for a while now.
I’ve worked with [insert any examples].
It would be great to connect and chat sometime if you’re available.
Hope you see this, and I look forward to speaking with you.”
This is a straightforward and adaptable DM you can send to anyone. Tailor it to your needs.
Don’t Do This
Avoid sending a DM to someone asking for a favour right away. Trust me, it often deters people from responding or giving you their attention.
Imagine receiving DMs like:
“Hi, can you do me a favour and reply to this post?”
“Hi, can you tell me more about xyz?”
Honestly, it doesn't leave a good impression when you skip the personal introduction.
Consider This
The more they know about you, the higher the chances both of you have to recommend or collaborate with each other in the future.
Don’t underestimate the power of sending a simple DM to a few people you can network with.
